The application process for disability insurance is relatively simple. Please note that all information is kept strictly confidential!
- First, send in a request for a quote form with your information.
- Next, someone from our office will contact you by e-mail or phone (whichever you prefer) to discuss further what you are looking for and help customize your plan.
- We will either discuss the quote with you over the phone or e-mail. We will then send you the application for you to complete or we can complete it together over the phone.
- Mail the application back to our office with your original signature. We will also need a copy of a pay stub, employment contract or tax return for income verification. This is waived if you automatically qualify for certain amounts. See How Much Coverage.
- The underwriting process will begin. We will continue to keep you updated on the status of your application as it progresses through underwriting.
- When the policy is issued, we will mail it to you with instructions. If you have any questions or would like to discuss it further to confirm everything is the way you want it, we will talk about it on the phone. If an insurance company denies coverage due to a medical condition or other problem, they will reveal the information to you in writing the reasons for their decision. Sometimes the company also provides a timeframe as to when they would reconsider.
